Graffiti 2 Helps offers direct assistance and support to adults within the Mott Haven neighborhood. The program involves three strategic components: meeting needs, building relationships, and allowing God to transform lives.
To meet needs, Graffiti 2 conducts outreach to individuals on the street. Many of these individuals struggle with addiction. Outreach involves meeting a tangible need by providing food, a backpack of supplies, and an invitation to come to Graffiti 2's Ministry Center for other activities. In 2020, Graffiti 2 also began a micro-grant benevolence ministry to meet needs of individuals facing financial hardship.
To build relationships, Graffiti 2 believes in eating with people rather than feeding people. Three opportunities exist to build relationships: 1) One-on-one invitations to meet for a lunch or dinner, 2) Invitation for free coffee at Graffiti 2's coffee shop, and 3) invitation to attend Graffiti 2's community meal on Thursday evening.
To transform lives, Graffiti 2 believes that Christ alone can lead to a changed life, however being kind and walking with a person on their journey creates space for the Holy Spirit to work. Intentional steps Graffiti takes to change lives include: 1) Sharing the gospel, 2) Providing long-term assistance in detox, rehab, and transitions, 3) Assisting with life-obstacles utilizing social work best practices, and 4) Knowing there's power in a group, inviting individuals to be part of a rehab group and the church.
Participants that attend this modeling event will be engaged in hands-on-ministry as well as learn the principles and best practices that guide the work. If interested, ongoing coaching and support can be provided to those seeking to implement similar ministry in their own contexts.
This event will take place at Graffiti 2 Church and last from 12:00pm - 3:00pm.
