New Orleans is an area of great contrasts; stately homes alongside dilapidated shacks, gourmet restaurants alongside a street lined with the homeless. The Send Relief Ministry Center is located just four blocks from the edge of the French Quarter. By providing clothing, shelter, building relationships, and teaching life skills, Baptist Friendship House has ministered to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women and children suffering from homelessness which is often a result of human-trafficking crimes for decades.
It is in this time of desperate need that you have the greatest opportunity to give practical assistance, make personal connections, and share the gospel.
What will you do:
Projects will consist of various forms of community engagement in areas of New Orleans where poverty and homelessness are rampant. These can include: meeting the basic needs of homeless and impoverished, participating in a block party style event at Baptist Friendship House, prayer walking through the French Quarter and Marigny, and site projects such as organizing a clothing closet and food pantry.
