Serve Tour - Salt Lake City, UT

G6 - High School and Prison Employee Outreach (Fri Afternoon)

4/17/2026 — 4/17/2026

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and Send Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Salt Lake City. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.

What will you do?

You will check in at 12:30PM at ValleyLight Church (5685 W Cilma Dr, West Valley City, UT 84128) and will serve until approximately 6:00PM.

Project details:

ValleyLight Church seeks to bless the West Valley community by providing gifts and treats for both Hunter High School students and the local state prison employees. Volunteers will begin by partnering with a student led club at Hunter High School called Leap of Faith, a group of about 15 Christian students wanting to reach out to the students at their school. Volunteers will pass out donuts for the students as they leave school. This event will help the students of Hunter High school to see that there are fellow students and a local church that cares about them.

During the afternoon and into the evening, volunteers will craft goody bags to hand out to employees coming in and out of the Utah State Correctional Facility for shift change. Volunteers will serve around 500 workers in a short amount of time. In addition, fun music will be going and Swig will be providing drinks. Volunteers will focus on welcoming employees, handing out the goody bags, and most importantly interacting and sharing the gospel employees.
