Serve Tour - Columbia, SC

R8 - Northside Middle Teacher Workroom and Care Closet Refresh (Fri-Sat)

8/22/2025 — 8/23/2025

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Columbia. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the RIVER DISTRICT CHURCH hub. The address is 400 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.

Project details:

This project supports the students and staff of Northside Middle School through two key efforts: refreshing the teacher workroom and organizing the Care Closet. The Care Closet serves as an essential resource for students in need—whether it’s clothing for student's experiencing homelessness, a warm hoodie on a cold day, hygiene items, or snacks to take home.

In the teacher workroom, volunteers will clean, organize, and add thoughtful touches like comfortable seating, a snack station, and encouraging notes to transform it into a peaceful, welcoming space where teachers feel appreciated.

In the Care Closet, volunteers will sort and label items, remove expired goods, and improve the layout with shelves and bins. This will create a more functional and dignified space where students can easily access clothing, hygiene items, snacks, and supplies.
