In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Columbia. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the RIVER DISTRICT CHURCH hub. The address is 400 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.
Project details:
Gateway Baptist Church desires to continue serving special needs and disabled individuals and their families in the community. They are planning to host a Field Day event designed to bring people together, build relationships, and create a space where God’s love is felt in a tangible way. This event will have carnival games, field day races, and free lunch.
Volunteers will help with prepping, cooking, and serving food. They will set up and oversee games and races for families to enjoy. Volunteers will also engage in conversations with people attending to share the gospel and connect them to Gateway Baptist Church. Lastly, volunteers will help with post-event clean-up. This event will be more than a Field Day - it will be an opportunity to show Christ's love to the community.
