In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in San Diego. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the KINGS CROSS CHURCH HUB. The address is 4747 Soledad Mountain Rd, San Diego, CA 92109. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.
Project details:
Kings Cross Church is a church plant who is reaching the diverse neighborhood of La Jolla where churches have historically struggled to thrive. They are developing a strategic partnership with the La Jolla Town Council. The Council is passionate about fixing up the local roads and filling potholes to promote a more positive and safe community for its residents. They recently started a Get It Done app where anyone can submit pictures and descriptions of potholes and roads that need work, so the city can address the needs.
Volunteers will work in partnership with Kings Cross Church and the La Jolla Town Council to survey various areas, take pictures, and write descriptions of the work that needs to be done. Additionally, volunteers have the opportunity to be praying over the city and have Gospel conversations with locals as they are walking around documenting roads that need upkeep.
Please note this project will require the use of volunteers' personal cell phones and will involve walking.
