In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Philadelphia, PA. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help revitalized local churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and, more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the Bedrock Church Fishtown hub. The address is 2443 E. Gordon St. Philadelphia, PA 19125. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.
Project details:
Bedrock Church is one of our newest church plants in the city of Philadelphia. The church is located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia that is rich in the culinary arts and music. It is also located to just blocks from a neighborhood called Kensington. Kensington is known far and wide as a center of the drug trade, with all the crime and violence that it brings. It is among the poorest neighborhoods in America where homelessness and hunger are everyday realities. Above all, it is a place that needs Jesus. Bedrock Church is partnering with the Table Ministry, which is led by a local Pastor who grew up in that very neighborhood. His ministry is there every Saturday reaching and caring for those in need bringing them the hope of Jesus. Bedrock partners with his ministry to help them on their Saturday Outreaches.
Volunteers will serve and care for the homeless community in a variety of ways. They will work by serving food, facilitating a sneaker exchange, washing hair in preparation for hair cuts and praying with people.
