In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Chicago, IL. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help revitalized local churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and, more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the Ministry Center hub. The address is 5916 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60644. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.
Project details:
Elmwood Park Community Church is a replant church in the 5th year. Being a church in decline, there has been a lot to do and the outside has had only a little attention over the past 5 years; there were many other priorities ahead of this. The church property is surrounded by planting beds that need to be weeded and mulched. Volunteers will complete the necessary landscaping, including trimming bushes, reseeding grass, digging up and relocating plants, completing new edging on all garden spaces, and replacing old stone edging with new.
