Serve Tour - Chicago, IL

SP1 - Kitchen Renovation (Fri-Sat)

8/4/2023 — 8/5/2023

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Chicago, IL. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help revitalized local churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and, more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the Starting Point hub. The address is 4851 W. Wrightwood Ave., Chicago, IL 60639. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.

Project details:

Starting Point Community Church serves in Belmont-Cragin, located on the Northwest side of Chicago. Currently, SPCC holds bilingual services as it ministers to 1st-5th generation Hispanics. SPCC has seen significant growth this past year with a focus on discipleship, relationship building, and preaching the gospel. Recently, the church has become a ministry hub to meet the needs to immigrants and refugees.

Volunteers will support this church by renovating the kitchen area, adding new lighting, installing cabinets, replacing sink, moving appliances, painting and more to create a more practical space for ministry and give a welcoming feel for the two churches currently using the space as well as the 6-8 mission teams that are hosted throughout the year.
