Serve Tour - New Orleans, LA

NO21 - Special Needs Life Skills Room (Fri-Sat)

6/9/2023 — 6/10/2023

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in New Orleans, LA. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help revitalized local churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and, more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the FBC New Orleans hub. The address is 5290 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.

Project details:

“KIPP” stands for the Knowledge Is Power Program. We are a non-profit network of charter schools that support low-income students on their entire educational journey. KIPP New Orleans Schools educates about 6000 children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 at 13 schools.

Each of our schools houses an Academic and Functional Skills Program (AFS). The AFS programs provide children and young adults with moderate to severe disabilities access to high-quality education, building the necessary academic and functional skills students need to become joyful and contributing members of society.

Volunteers will create a dedicated space that will support high school students with life skills development by utilizing the existing classrooms to design and set up a kitchenette including a space for food storing and preparation.
