Imagine one of the most diverse communities in America where 60-70% of the population is foreign-born, representing over 50 countries and 100+ distinct ethnic groups all compressed within 1.4 square miles. This is Clarkston, GA. Known as the “Ellis Island of the South,” there are great needs, but there are also great opportunities for churches and individuals to invest in the residents of this unique community.
The Clarkston Mission Experience is an immersive mission trip experience at the Send Relief Ministry Center in Clarkston, GA that introduces you to refugee ministry. This 4-day event explores why the church must step toward refugees with mercy and compassion, how this is done, and where it happens best. The goal of the experience is to model and multiply refugee ministry so that churches and individuals will Step Toward the foreign-born neighbors that surround their church with mercy and compassion.
What will you do:
Each day will consist of various forms of cross-cultural training as well as opportunities for community outreach. This trip will consist of 75% training, experiencing, and equipping, and 25% serving and volunteering with ministry partners involved in community outreach.
