In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Montgomery, AL. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help revitalized local churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and, more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the FBC Montgomery hub. The address is 305 S Perry St, Montgomery, AL 36104. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.
Project details:
The Nehemiah Center Adult Education House serves as the base of operations for the Nehemiah Center, a Christian-based community development ministry that has been in operation for over 20 years in Chisholm, an underserved community in Montgomery. This early 1900’s house is where we hold adult education classes and has been refurbished to be functional for ministry needs while maintaining the character of homes in the neighborhood. However, almost two years ago, a pecan tree feel on the front of the house and the front porch causing significant damage. The inside rooms of the house and the roof have been repaired; however, the covered porch has not been able to be restored to its former beauty. Currently, there is no roof, and the deck that has been built does not have any railings or handrails on the steps.
Volunteers for this project will work to build the covering for the front porch, wood railings, and handrails on the front steps. Volunteers will also complete some beautification around the front porch area and wood railing off the back porch.
