In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Montgomery, AL. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments, and compassion ministry non-profits. In addition, we want to strategically help revitalized local churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus' name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and, more importantly, who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on missions.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of Serve Tour at the Imago Dei at 45 Church Hub. The address is 6845 US-80, Hayneville, AL, 36040. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of the Serve Tour.
Project details:
Central High School is a local high school that our church has worked with for the past year and a half. We provide weekly meals and/or devotionals for the football, basketball, and baseball teams. In addition, we have performed volunteer work such as pressure washing the bleachers. As a result, we have seen several players come to church with us and have had many great Gospel conversations with the players and coaches. A few years ago, the school constructed an athletic facility but did not finish the drywall in several rooms. Unfortunately, the athletic department does not have the funds to finish the rooms, and this project would help complete the athletic facility and continue building relationships with the school faculty, coaches, and students to advance the Gospel.
Volunteers will work to complete the unfinished rooms in the facility. The rooms need sheetrock installed to the existing framed walls. The sheetrock would need to be finished and painted. Approximately 120 ft of 10' tall walls need sheetrock (1,200 sf total) to be installed, mudded, sanded, and painted. An approximate additional 1,200 sf.would need to be painted.
