Send Relief’s desire is to offer on-going opportunities to visit our Ministry Centers to taste and see what compassion ministry looks like on the front lines.? We want you to leverage our experiences?in hopes that you may?begin a similar initiative, fortify?an effort that has already begun, or directly partner with one or multiple of our Ministry Centers.
New Orleans is a city of great contrasts; stately French and Spanish villas border dilapidated shacks or empty lots, and gourmet restaurants share streets with those experiencing homelessness. The greater New Orleans area contains over 1 million people, some of whom are recent transplants for work or education while others have family history here dating back for hundreds of years to the founding in 1718. Yet only 1 in 10 attend an evangelical church, meaning 900,000+ people don’t trust Jesus as Savior. New Orleans today remains home to a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
Send Relief in New Orleans operates with the goal of strengthening communities and ministering to those in need by giving practical assistance, making personal connections, and sharing the gospel.
What will you do:
Teams will engage in homeless ministry through Baptist Friendship House, serve one of our church planters or partner compassion ministries, and participate in prayer walking, gospel conversations, and spiritual surveys. Teams will also receive evangelism and compassion ministry training. Our goal is to expose teams to a range of ministry approaches, inspire continued ministry development and engagement, and challenge teams to replicate compassion ministry in their home context.
Next steps:
Once you are registered, you will receive a series of emails with details regarding your event. We will equip you with the information you need to make your experience meaningful.
