Salt Lake City has long been known as the religious center for Mormons (LDS), but it is also known for its many year-round outdoor activities. Hiking, fishing, boating in the spring-summer - fall, and skiing in the winter. The outlying areas of Ogden and Provo are well-established communities and help to make up the greater Salt Lake City metropolitan area.
Your GenSend mission experience will include working alongside some of the established and emerging church planters in the Salt Lake City / Provo / Ogden areas; as well as with well-established churches. This work will include opportunities to assist with mercy and compassion projects and through outreach opportunities into new communities where a church plant is being established.
One day of your mission experience will be set aside for a mini “Catch The Vision” CTV Tour which will include a Temple Tour and discussion on the LDS church in comparison to SBC Baptist Faith and Message beliefs. Further discussion on how we can bring the good news of Jesus Christ to people who do not know Him through the combined Church Planting and Mercy and Compassion ministries of Send Network and Send Relief.
We can also arrange for a “free” day during the week to allow you to explore the area on your own. Some of the local attractions are: Great Salt Lake; Park City; Family History Library (in the Temple Square); Big Cottonwood Canyon; Clark Planetarium – or further out, you can do a day tour of the Pony Express route; Bryce Canyon National Park or The Uinatah’s Mountain
Cost: $295 per volunteer - Includes ministry projects and most lunches/dinners. (housing and transportation not included)
