In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Baltimore. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments and compassion ministry non-profits. We want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.
We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.
Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and (more importantly) who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on mission.
What will you do?
You will begin each day of serve tour at the TRANSFORMATION CENTER hub. The address is 3701 4th St, Brooklyn, MD 21225. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of Serve Tour.
Pleasant Rock Baptist Church is a church located in the Pigtown neighborhood. The church was founded by Pastor Timothy Loftin, a lifelong Baltimorean, in 1985, and they have a passion for preaching the gospel in the neighborhood. One of their most fruitful ministries has been their annual Vacation Bible School, which has been a great way for many of unchurched children in their community to hear the gospel, as well as a homelessness outreach initiative.
Pleasant Rock meets in an old church building was built in 1888, and it has been a long time since many of its walls have been painted. During the Serve Tour, volunteers will be invited to team up with Pleasant Rock church members to paint the lobby area, the fellowship hall, a door, and windows.
