Serve Tour - Baltimore, MD

FR-9| Elmwood Elem. School Beautification (Fri)

4/29/2022 — 4/29/2022

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Baltimore. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments and compassion ministry non-profits. We want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and (more importantly) who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on mission.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of serve tour at the FREEDOM CHURCH hub. The address is 5310 Hazelwood Ave Baltimore, MD 21206. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of Serve Tour.

Freedom Church was founded in 2010, and it is a thriving church in East Baltimore. In 2013, after meeting at a YMCA and later an elementary school, they were gifted the Hazelwood Baptist Church building. Since then, ministry has thrived, in large part due to the block parties that they frequently hold. In 2018, they planted a new church on the west side of Baltimore--Freedom Church Windsor Mill.

Since their beginnings, Freedom Church has always valued partnering with schools in their community. There are two schools in particular, both located a few minutes away, with which they have a strong relationship--Elmwood Elementary and McCormick Elementary. Over the years, they've frequently used an adopt-a-family model, in which congregants were matched up with families in the schools to provide Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts.

At Elmwood Elementary, volunteers will help with the beautification and landscaping of the school grounds.
