Serve Tour - Baltimore, MD

FR-8| Freedom Church Block Party (Saturday)

4/30/2022 — 4/30/2022

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Baltimore. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments and compassion ministry non-profits. We want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and (more importantly) who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on mission.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of serve tour at the FREEDOM CHURCH hub. The address is 5310 Hazelwood Ave Baltimore, MD 21206. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of Serve Tour.

Freedom Church was founded in 2010, and it is a thriving church in East Baltimore. In 2013, after meeting at a YMCA and later an elementary school, they were gifted the Hazelwood Baptist Church building. Since then, ministry has thrived, in large part due to the block parties that they frequently hold. In 2018, they planted a new church on the west side of Baltimore--Freedom Church Windsor Mill.

Freedom Church puts a significant amount of time and resources into their block parties. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the block parties would bring in up to 700 attendees. As the pandemic is slowly winding down and things are gradually returning to normal, Freedom is excited to engage with their neighborhood more actively once more. The goal of this block party is to bring their neighbors onto their church property, connect them relationally with their church members, and provide a space for evangelism opportunities. Not only will the block party contain moon bounces, laser tag, lawn games, and food distribution, but a trained evangelism team will also be active in engaging in gospel conversations all throughout. The block party volunteers will be assisting with the setup, the execution, and the cleanup.
