Serve Tour - Baltimore, MD

C-1| New SW Baptist Church Painting (Fri+Sat)

6/30/2022 — 6/30/2022

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Baltimore. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments and compassion ministry non-profits. We want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and (more importantly) who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on mission.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of serve tour at the CHRISTIAN LIBERTY CHURCH hub. The address is 2301 Gwynns Falls Pkwy, Baltimore, MD 21217. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of Serve Tour.

Pastor Steven Fleck founded New Southwest Baptist Church in 1999, and they were able to inherit a vacant 1892 church building that was on its way to being demolished. After a few years of renovations, New Southwest Baptist Church started meeting there regularly, where they remain to this day. New Southwest is located in a diverse, historic neighborhood that is lacking in gospel-preaching churches. New Southwest has a long history of ministering to kids in the park and residents struggling with substance abuse, and they hope to beautify their church building to better serve the community. Several years ago, Pastor Fleck painted the exterior of the building, but now the paint needs some more work.

During this project, volunteers will be painting two coats of paint on the building, and especially the trim located on the 2nd floor, one on Friday and one on Saturday. On Saturday, all volunteers will join up with the Park Cleanup service project 4 blocks away for a community lunch.
