Serve Tour - Baltimore, MD

T-2| Transf. Center Beautification (Fri+Sat)

4/29/2022 — 4/30/2022

In partnership with churches, associations, your state convention, and SEND Relief, the Serve Tour seeks to inspire you to engage in compassion ministry through participation in ministry projects in Baltimore. Our plan is to find ways to meet needs and bless churches, schools, local governments and compassion ministry non-profits. We want to strategically help local revitalized churches and bless bi-vocational pastors by providing assistance.

We want to make it easy to bring people together in Jesus’ name to make a difference.

Our goal is for the Serve Tour to become a unifying opportunity for Southern Baptists to demonstrate to a watching city who we are and (more importantly) who our Savior is. As believers swarm the city, we will provide pre-trip training guides and a 30-day prayer guide to help you take your next step on mission.

What will you do?

You will begin each day of serve tour at the TRANSFORMATION CENTER hub. The address is 3701 4th St, Brooklyn, MD 21225. Your project leader will give you instructions each morning of Serve Tour.

The Transformation Center, a mission center founded by Pastor Brian Zimmerman of Streetlite Christian Fellowship, is located in Brooklyn, one of the most under-resourced neighborhoods in Baltimore. It exists to connect people to their God-given destiny by providing the pathways for them to rise above the obstacles of poverty, addiction, poor education, unemployment, and social injustice. Their ministry provides weekly food and clothing distribution, counseling services, after-school education, homelessness resourcing, and even a t-shirt company that intentionally employs formerly incarcerated people.

The Transformation Center owns an old church building, and they are looking to beautify the building to grow their ministry. In this project, volunteers will be divided up into three teams. The first will paint the second floor classroom area and hallway. The second will help to convert an old chapel space into a multipurpose space by removing pews, pulling up the carpet, painting, and cleaning. The third will be stationed in the commercial kitchen, where they will move and clean equipment, and scrape and repaint all walls and the ceiling.
